October, 10, 2009 – OXFORD, AL – The Flying Maroon Tigers finished a strong fourth at the eight-team Jacksonville State University Foothills Invitational cross country meet.
Morehouse came in behind Emory, UA-Huntsville and West Alabama, and ahead of North Alabama, North Georgia, Huntingdon, Jacksonville and Stillman.
In the 8K race, Abraham Kiprotich brought it home first, for Morehouse, and 20th overall, in a time of 27:03. He crossed the finish line five seconds ahead of teammate Karlton Mitchell.
Dreyfus Clemons took the 25th overall spot and third for Morehouse, in a time of 27:22. Michael Vinson at 27:51 (31st overall) and Brennen Buckner 30:14(61st overall) rounded out the Maroon Tiger scoring.
Khiry Lee (31:52) and Matt Tuoffour (36:01)competed for the ’House, but failed to score.
Morehouse will be spending the next two weeks preparing for the SIAC Cross Country Championships, which will be held, October 23 at the Beach at Clayton County International Park, in Jonesboro.
After winning 13 consecutive SIAC cross country titles, the Maroon Tiger finished second last year behind Benedict.
