
October 19, 2007 – ATLANTA – The Flying Maroon Tigers beat the competition and the prognosticators and captured their thirteenth consecutive SIAC Cross Country Championship, held today in Marietta.
Picked to finish second behind Benedict College, in the preseason poll, Morehouse turned the tables on their nearest rivals and left the Lions in the lurch, to capture the conference crown.
Morehouse runners finished in the 2, 4, 6, 8 and 9 positions and scored 29 points, to win easily over Benedict, which took second place with 40 points. Kentucky State Finished third, with 84 points.
For guiding his team to the title, head coach Willie H. Hill was named the 2007 SIAC Cross Country Coach of the Year. This is his thirteenth consecutive C.O.Y. award.
The Maroon Tigers who finished in the Top 10 were named to the All-Conference team.

On the women’s side, Albany State University women took first place, followed by Tuskegee University. Clark Atlanta University and Benedict College tied for third place.
