August 31, 2007 – ATLANTA – Three Maroon Tigers were named to the 2007 preseason All-SIAC Cross Country Team and despite winning 13 consecutive championships Morehouse was not predicted to win this year’s conference title. Instead, the Maroon Tigers were projected to finish second behind Benedict College, based on individual times of returning runners in last year’s conference championship.
Senior Julius Hanks and sophomores De’Andre Cherry and Dezmond Douglas were voted to the seven-member SIAC First Team, by the Cross Country Coaches Association.
In last season’s championship, held at Atlanta’s Mozley Park, Douglas, an undeclared major from North Ridgeville, OH, came in seventh overall. Hanks, a history major from Bloomington, IN, finished ninth; and Cherry, an undeclared major from Oakland, CA, took eleventh place.
