January 30, 2010 – ALBANY, GA – After a thrilling overtime win against Clark Atlanta, on Thursday, the Maroon Tigers had a letdown and dropped one to the Albany State Golden Rams, 78-67.
The first half was close, with neither team able to take control. Morehouse led 29-28 at the break. An ASU three-pointer at the start of the second period gave the Golden Rams a lead they never relinquished.
As in Thursday’s win, the “Mobile, AL Connection” of Jelani Figures and Joshiah Anabraba did most of the scoring, combining for 45 points on 19-of-33 shooting.
Figures followed up his 36 points against CAU with a game-high 28 points and five rebounds. In 10 games, since re-joining the team in early January, Figures has averaged 19.6 points and 6.3 rebounds.
Anabraba, who scored 21 points in his season debut, two days ago, had another big day, tallying 17 points and seven rebounds.
James Williams chipped in seven points and Rod Williams added four points, to go with seven rebounds.
The Maroon Tigers dropped to 5-10 (5-8 SIAC).
Three Golden Rams scored in double figures, led by Truett O’Neal, who poured in 22 points, to help ASU improve to 8-9 (8-6 SIAC).
Morehouse travels to Fort Valley, Tuesday, at 7:30, to face the Wildcats.
