December 5, 2009 – ATLANTA – In a battle of 0-4 teams, Morehouse came up short, 63-43, against the Miles College Golden Bears.
The previously winless Golden Bears came out hot, hitting 5-of-9 three pointers and building a 32-20 halftime lead. Finishing with 53 percent shooting from beyond the arc, the Bears raced to a double-digit lead that they maintained through most of the game.
Morehouse battled back early in the second half and closed the gap to eight points, but a 7-0 surge by Miles pushed the game back out of reach.
Morehouse hit 18-of-59 shots for a season-low 30 percent.
Rod Williams did most of the damage for Morehouse, with 20 points, on 8-of-12 shooting. The junior from Riverdale pulled down seven rebounds and added two assists. He leads the Maroon Tigers in scoring, with 14.2 points per game, and rebounds, with 8.8 boards per game.
Keon Blackledge led Morehouse in rebounding, with eight, but managed only six points on 2-of-12 shooting.
Four Golden Bears scored in double figures, led by Richard Harper’s 15.
Morehouse finishes winless in 2009 and will resume the season, January 4, at home, against the Paine College Lions.
