TIGERS LOSE TO LIONS

January 20, 2009 – ATLANTA – Paul Williams scored his career high as a Maroon Tiger, but in a losing effort, as Morehouse fell to the Paine College Lions, 67-51.

The senior from Atlanta’s West Lake High School hit 5-of-6 three-pointers, and three free throws, for an 18-point scoring spree – his best in four years at Morehouse. His previous high of 12 points came against Stillman in January 2008. Williams added three rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Morehouse fell into an early hole and never recovered, on the way to an eight-game losing streak and a 3-9 (1-8 SIAC) record.

J.P. Felder came within a point of his fourth double-double of the season, with nine points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

Roderick Williams contributed nine points and six rebounds.

Four Lions scored in double figures, led by Donald Harris, who tied Paul Williams, with 18 points. The Augusta, GA-based school improved to 6-9 (5-7 SIAC).

Morehouse will host the Stillman College Tigers, on Thursday, at 7:30 p.m. Morehouse defeated Stillman, 81-77, on December 2, for the only conference win of the season thus far.

SCHEDULING NOTE: The Tuskegee game scheduled for Saturday, at 3 p.m., has been changed to 8 p.m.
