MOREHOUSE PICKED THIRD; BOYD PRESEASON ALL-SIAC

October 3, 2008 – ATLANTA – The Morehouse basketball team has been predicted to finish third in the race for the conference title and center Kenney Boyd was voted to the preseason All-SIAC team, conference officials announced today.

SIAC basketball coaches projected the Maroon Tigers to take the third spot despite a 12-15 record, an eighth-place finish in the regular season and a first-round elimination in the 2008 conference tournament.

Boyd, a 6’-8” 280-pound senior from Meridian, MS, led Morehouse in scoring (15.9 ppg) and rebounds (10.1 rpg) last season. In the conference last season, Boyd was second in rebounding and fourth in scoring and was voted to the post-season All-SIAC team.

Morehouse lost two starters and three reserves from last year’s team, due to graduation or exhausted eligibility.

Benedict College , the defending conference champion, was projected to capture the SIAC crown again this season. Claflin, a new addition to the SIAC, was predicted to finish second, and Clark Atlanta was picked to finish fourth.
