February 18, 2008 – ATLANTA – Once again, Morehouse was plagued by turnovers and poor free-throw shooting and once again that deadly duo led to defeat. This time the Tuskegee Golden Tigers benefited from the Morehouse malaise, beating the Maroon Tigers 74-70.
The Maroon Tigers committed 23 turnovers and the Golden Tigers converted those miscues into a 28-17 points-off-turnovers advantage.
Tuskegee hit 7-of-10, while Morehouse hit 7-of-15, from the charity stripe. The 47 percent misfiring tied the Maroon Tiger's second lowest output this season.
Morehouse trailed by four points at halftime and by 13, midway through the second half. But the tenacious Tigers clawed their way back to within two points, before error bug bit.
The loss spoiled an outstanding performance by Jason Reese, who almost single-handedly rallied the Maroon Tigers back from the double-digit deficit. Reese finished with 18 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
Teammate Kenney Boyd scored a game-high 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field, to go with six rebounds. But Boyd turned the ball over five times and missed half of his 12 free throws.
Travis Floyd sank five of his seven shots, for 11 points and dished out four assists.
Power forward J.P. Felder sat out the game with an ankle sprain. Kwame Agbottah filled in and contributed four points, four rebounds and three assists.
Freshman Daniel Brown had a solid game, with nine rebounds, four points and two assists, off the bench.
Four Tuskegee players scored in double figures, led by Rashaune Walters with 20 points and nine rebounds. Tuskegee upped its record to 7-16 (7-11 SIAC).
Dropping to 11-13, with two games to play, Morehouse has lost the chance for a winning regular season. Last season, Morehouse went 9-16.
