
January 27, 2008 – ATLANTA – For the second straight week, Morehouse center Kenney Boyd has been named the SIAC Player of the Week.
The talented and soft-spoken center had stellar performances, in a week where Morehouse lost two games and won one. The 6’-8” 280-pound junior from Meridian, MS, averaged 14.3 points, 10 rebounds, and two assists. His best game was Saturday, when he recorded 18 points, 11 rebounds and four assists, in a losing effort against Tuskegee.
Playing in his first season at Morehouse, Boyd has become one of the best players in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. He is first in field goal percentage (.671), second in rebounding (9.5 per game) and eighth in scoring (14.7).
Boyd, who patterns his game after his favorite player Shaquille O’Neal, attended Meridian Community College, before coming to Morehouse. In 2005, he was named Player of the Month.
