January 25, 2008 – TUSKEGEE, AL – Four Maroon Tigers scored in double figures, but Morehouse slipped again on the road, this time falling to Tuskegee 70-68.
After trailing 40-33 at halftime, Morehouse fought back in the second half. The Maroon Tigers took a three point lead with four minutes left, only to let the Golden Tigers regain the advantage on consecutive turnovers. Two free throws by Brenden Stoner put Morehouse ahead, 68-67, but that was the last Morehouse scoring in the final three minutes. A three-point attempt by Travis Floyd at the buzzer was off the mark.
Center Kenney Boyd led all scorers with 18 points, on 8-of-12 shooting. His 11 rebounds tied with teammate Jason Reese for the game high.
Reese chipped in 12 points, but had a game-high seven turnovers. Overall, Morehouse turned the ball over 19 times, while forcing seven turnovers by Tuskegee.
Power forward J.P. Felder had another strong game, with 14 points, seven rebounds and four blocked shots.
Travis Floyd hit three shots from beyond the arc and finished with 12 points.
Four Golden Tigers scored in double figures, led by Keith Flournoy with 14 points. Tuskegee improved to 4-9 (4-5 SIAC).
Morehouse fell to 10-6 (7-5 SIAC). At home, the Maroon Tigers are 8-0; on the road 2-6. Five of those losses have been to teams with losing records, at the time the games were played.
The Maroon Tigers will be off until Thursday, at 7:30 p.m., when they face the Panthers of Clark Atlanta, at Forbes Arena. Morehouse has won the last 13-of-14 games between the cross-campus rivals.
