January 14, 2008 – MEMPHIS, TN – The Maroon Tigers dropped another road game – this time to the Lemoyne Owen Magicians. The 79-65 loss was the second straight loss, the fourth road loss and the only double-digit loss of the season.
Morehouse fell to 7-4 (4-3 SIAC). Lemoyne Owen improved to 4-7 (4-2 SIAC).
The game was a tale of two halves. Morehouse led the way for the first 22 minutes, but the Magicians outscored the visiting Tigers 47-28 in the second half. Once again, turnovers hurt the Maroon Tigers who mishandled the ball 19 times. On the other side, the Maroon Tigers only forced seven turnovers by the home team.
Forward Jason Reese recorded his fourth double-double of the season, with 17 points and 13 rebounds.
Guard Brenden Stoner scored 12 points and pulled down three rebounds and Travis Floyd scored 10 points and grabbed five rebounds.
Big men Kenney Boyd and Jerry Felder combined for 10 points and 11 rebounds and Paul Williams contributed seven points.
Jihad Shariff led the way for Lemonye Owen, with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Rasul Buulu poured in a game high 24 points and Darren Green added 10 points and six rebounds.
The Maroon Tigers return to Forbes Arena to play Kentucky State, Thursday, at 7:30. At their last meeting on January 1, the Thorobreds outran the Tigers 83-75.
