MAROON TIGERS REMAIN UNBEATEN AT HOME

December 8, 2007 – ATLANTA – For the second straight game, Jason Reese and Kenney Boyd scored double-doubles, leading the Maroon Tigers over the Miles Golden Bears 85-71.

Morehouse remained unbeaten at home and improve to 5-1 (2-0 SIAC). The win avenges a loss to Miles in the first round of the SIAC tournament in April. Miles fell to 5-2 (3-1 SIAC).

Reese, who finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds, scored 12 points of his points in the first half and helped Morehouse build a 44-33 halftime lead. The 6’-3” guard was equally effective on defense, blocking three shots and grabbing a game high six steals.

Morehouse extended the lead to 27 points early in the second half, but Miles chipped away at the margin, until trailing by only six points with two minutes to go. With Miles forced to foul to stop the clock, the Maroon Tigers made them pay, by hitting clutch free throws down the stretch. Reese led all free-throw shooters, sinking 8-of-10.

Boyd, one of the most accurate shooters in the conference, hit 11-of-16 shots from the field. The 6’-8” center from Meridian, MS continued his hot scoring and rebounding, with a game high in points (23) and rebounds (15). In six games this season, Boyd is averaging 15.3 points and 10.7 rebounds per game.

Forward Jerry Felder came within a point of a double-double, with nine points and 10 rebounds and point guard Paul Williams scored a season high nine points.

Guard Brenden Stoner contributed eight points and nine rebounds and forward Peter Price added eight points and three rebounds.

Flawaan Flaggs led the Golden Bears with 20 points. No other player scored in double figures.

Morehouse returns to action January 1, 2008, in Frankfort, KY, against the Thorobreds. The next game at Forbes Arena will be January 7, against Paine.
