February 13, 2007 – FORT VALLEY, GA –What do you get when you add up 30 turnovers, 35 percent free-throw shooting and the fewest shots (39) of any game this season – a 58-46 Morehouse loss to the Fort Valley State Wildcats.
In the lowest scoring game this season, Morehouse led 20-19 at halftime and kept it close until halfway through the second period. That’s when the turnover bug bit and the Maroon Tigers became careless with the ball, turning it over at the rate of nearly two per minute.
Will Belton’s 13 points and Jason Patterson’s 10 points led the way for the Maroon Tigers who fell to 6-14 (6-12 SIAC). Patterson’s five rebounds were a team high and his 10 turnovers were a Morehouse season high. No other Maroon Tiger scored more than five points, including center James Beasley who tied his season-low of two points, to go with one rebound.
Roderick Hill carried the weight for the Wildcats who improved to 13-10 (12-3 SIAC). Hill recorded game-highs in points (22) and rebounds (8).
The Maroon Tigers will travel to Albany, Ga., Thursday to face the Golden Rams. ASU won the last meeting 59-56, on February 3.
