January 20, 2007 – JACKSON, TN – After their first two-win streak of the season, the Maroon Tigers drop one to the Lane Dragons 73-59.
Morehouse led by as many as nine in the first half and took a five-point lead into the locker room. In the second half, the Dragons whittled away at that lead and went on a 20-6 scoring spree to build a 15-point lead with four minutes left and salted the game away.
The Maroon Tigers had beaten the Dragons 93-88, at Forbes on January 4.
Morehouse leading scorer Will Belton again led the Maroon Tigers with 18 points, but the shooting guard from Fairburn, GA had to throw up 20 shots to reach that mark, hitting six of them, including three three-pointers.
Center James Beasley who scored 21 points two nights ago in a win against Kentucky State could only contribute seven points tonight, to go with four rebounds.
Forward Marlon Ferguson who has scored double digits in four of the last five games had another big day, hitting 4-of-5 shots from the field and 4-of-6 free throws for 12 points.
Though he went scoreless, point guard Tilmon Holloway led Morehouse in rebounding with seven.
Forward Jason Reese had an all around good game with eight points, three rebounds, two steals and two assists.
Three Dragons scored in double figures, led by Steven Fluker, who had game-highs in points (24) and rebounds (10).
Morehouse fell to 4-8 (4-6 SIAC); Lane improved to 5-8.
The Maroon Tigers will return to Forbes Arena on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., to face the Paine College Lions, for the first of three consecutive home games.
