MAROON TIGERS MAKE MAGICIANS DISAPPEAR

January 15, 2007 – ATLANTA – Four Maroon Tigers scored in double figures, to help Morehouse knock off the LeMoyne-Owen Magicians, 85-62.

Both teams entered the game at 2-7. The largest margin of victory this season broke a three-game losing streak by the Maroon Tigers, who hit the road for games against Kentucky State and Lane, Thursday and Saturday.

Morehouse never trailed in the game and held the Magicians to 38 percent shooting, the lowest by any opponent this season. On the other side, the Maroon Tigers shot their highest percentage – 62 percent.

Forward Jason Reese had his best game as a Maroon Tiger, with outstanding play on both ends of the floor. The junior transfer from Greenville, Ga., hit 4-of-5 shots from the field and 3-of-5 from the free-throw for 11 points. He also grabbed four rebounds, handed out three assists, blocked two shots and collected three steals.

Marlon Ferguson was perfect from the floor, hitting 6-of-6 shots for 14 points. The high-jumping forward pulled down 10 rebounds, to record the second Morehouse double-double of the season. The only other double-double was recorded by center James Beasley who collected 19 and 12 in a loss to Kentucky State.

Will Belton led all players with a game-high 20 points. Beasley threw in 11 points, grabbed seven rebounds and blocked three shots.

Freshman Tilmon Holloway continued the solid play that has won him a spot in the starting lineup. The point guard from Auburn, AL tallied seven points, eight rebounds and four assists.

Adrian Prichett led the way for LeMoyne-Owen, with 16 points, six rebounds, four assists, three steals and a block. Two other Magicians scored in double figures.

The next home game for the Maroon Tigers is Tuesday, January 23, against the Paine College Lions.
