January 13, 2007 – ATLANTA – Running out of luck and energy at the end of a close game, the Maroon Tigers fell to the Miles College Golden Bears 70-63, at Forbes Arena.
Morehouse trailed throughout most of the back-and-forth game, but was always in striking distance, until poor shooting and shoddy defense allowed the Golden Bears to pull ahead in the final minutes.
The loss was the third straight for Morehouse and drops the Maroon Tigers to 2-7, 2-5 in the conference. Miles avenged a 81-67 December loss to the Maroon Tigers and improved to 8-5 overall and 5-3 in the SIAC.
Forward Jason Patterson came off the bench to score 14 points, to go with three assists and two rebounds.
Guard Will Belton scored 15 of his team-high 17 points in the second half, where he hit 5-of-8 shots from the field, with two three-pointers.
Center James Beasley picked up two quick fouls in the first half and played a total of 11 minutes, going 3-of-11 for seven points and four rebounds.
Forward Marlon Ferguson picked up the rebound slack, with a team-high eight rebounds. The junior from Pompano Beach, FL poured in 13 points, on 6-of-8 shooting.
Anthony Ward led the way for the Golden Bears, with 18 points, on 7-of-11 shooting and three three-pointers. He also pulled down a game-high nine rebounds. Two other Golden Bears scored in double figures.
