March 15, 2007 – ATLANTA – The Maroon Tigers broke a nine-game losing streak, with an 8-4 win over Fisk University.
The Bulldogs (0-2) got on the scoreboard first, scoring all four of their runs in the second inning. But the Maroon Tigers chipped away at the lead, with two runs in the second inning and one in the third. The decisive blow was a three-run homer in the fourth inning by Hank McCladdie that put Morehouse up for good.
Right-handed pitcher Anthony Cousins went the distance and picked up his first win of the season. The junior from Hempstead, NY gave up two earned runs, on four hits. He walked six and struck out seven.
McCladdie lead the Maroon Tigers 7-hit offensive attack. The pitcher/outfielder, who was batting in the designated-hitter spot, added a double, to go 2-for-4 on the day.
Infielder Leshawn Lettsome went 2-for-3, with a run and an RBI, and outfielder Dunte Artis went 1-for-2, with a run and an RBI.
Morehouse improved to 7-12 (0-6 SIAC) and will travel to Columbia, SC, to play Benedict in a double-header Saturday and a single game on Sunday.
