Christmas Carol Concert
|
The
first Christmas Carol Concert was performed
December 21, 1927.
It has since grown into a beloved
holiday tradition in Atlanta, held annually on three
nights early in December. The concert features a
combined chorus of both the Morehouse and Spelman
College Glee Clubs presented in alternation with
selections from each individual Glee Club as they
perform special arrangements of Christmas carols,
anthems, spirituals, and African songs. Over 7000
people come from all over the southeast each year
to attend the concerts, which are presented free
of charge as a gift of music to the community. |
