Program Description

The Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) program is a scientific research based initiative. The goal is to increase educational opportunities for academically talented students through scientific discovery and STEM field research mentorships with Morehouse faculty in the Division of Science and Mathematics. The program focus will involve a research intensive study for students majoring in the sciences (biology, chemistry, computer science, physics, psychology,

mathematics, and engineering) which will integrate classroom and laboratory research at Morehouse during the summer and throughout the academic year. All students are expected to participate in the Frederick E. Mapp

Research Symposium. A recruitment process of qualified students will determine the candidates who will participate in this expanded research program.

Congratulations to Michael Roundtree for winning 1st Place in the Poster Presentation Competition at The American Society For Cell Biology-STEM Life Meeting at the University of Alabama, Birmingham!

HHMI has played a major role in the progression of my research experience in my career field, and if I had to give one word of appreciation, I would like to tell everyone who has been a key resource to my experience, thank you.”

Thanks to Howard Hughes, I was able to apply what I learned in the classroom and see the direct benefit of what I was learning in order to apply procedures and formulas to real world applications.”
