Instructor of English

Corey Stayton teaches Composition 101 and World Literature 250, His research interests include African American Literature, American Literature, and literature and philosophy.  His dissertation focuses on creating an African American literary theory involving Bakongo cosmology and African American literature. Stayton’s teaching philosophy begins with having a passion for teaching and new ideas.  He has been on CNN with Don Lemon concerning the plight of African American males. He is a mentor at Teach One Academy and a senior volunteer at St. Francis Soup Kitchen, president of Kappa Alpha Sigma chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, and advisor to Ilyterati (Morehouse Poet Society).
