Awards / Prizes

As part of the mission to promote undergraduate research, the Herty Medalist Undergraduate Research Symposium (HMURS) features a poster session of presentations by undergraduates involved in chemical research from local colleges and universities in the State of Georgia. Undergraduates interested in presenting their work should submit an abstract to our registration page during the registration period (beginning August 2017). Be certain to do so by this year’s deadline (early September). Although late posters may be accepted if space permits, they cannot be guaranteed eligibility for the Top Poster Prize. In order to be eligible to present at the HMURS poster session, you must currently be enrolled as an undergraduate in an accredited Georgia college or university and actively involved in undergraduate research with a faculty mentor.

  • Top Poster Awardees will receive:

    • $500.00 to cover travel expenses to/from an upcoming meeting of the American Chemical Society (ACS)
    • A one-year student membership to the American Chemical Society.
  • Honorable Mention Awardees will receive:

    • A one-year student membership to the American Chemical Society.

The number of Honorable Mention Awards given each year varies based, in part, on the number of deserving presentations and/or the availability of funds.
