Early
Childhood Education (with State of Georgia/NCATE Certification, available
at Spelman College). Although this program is administered at Spelman
College, all Morehouse College students who wish to become early childhood
certified teachers must first apply to the Center for Teacher Preparation
at Morehouse.
The
Center’s director or appropriate other will conduct an initial interview
with the applicant and establish a student file and permanent data base.
The purpose of this file is to facilitate general academic advisement
and continued oversight of the Morehouse College student throughout his
program sequence at Spelman.
All early childhood certification students must formally apply to Spelman
college education department for official admission to the teacher certification
program during their first year of education courses and before being
permitted to register for second year teacher education courses.
At the time of application, students must have a minimum 2.5 grade point
average, post a passing score on the new GACE 1 test or have posted a
minimum 1,000 on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), a 22 composite score
on the ACT, or a 1030 on the Graduate Records Exam (GRE). Applicants must
also secure a police records clearance. See Spelman website at www.spelman.edu
