For almost 30 years, the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel at Atlanta’s Morehouse College has honored men and women in various walks of life who have exemplified the ideals supported by King. Dalton minister Nicky Starling says he was stunned to find that he will be among the honorees this year.
“I knew that I’d been nominated, but I didn’t expect that I would receive it. When I received the letter telling me I had, I was flabbergasted. I was shocked and very humbled,” Starling said.
Starling will be inducted into the Martin Luther King Jr. Board of Preachers on April 4.The Rev. Ernest Andrew Brooks III, associate campus minister at Morehouse College, says the college inducts about 50 people total each year into the Board of Preachers, the Collegium of Scholars for academics and the Board of Sponsors for community leaders. “For the past 28 years, we have held inductions in the King Chapel for those three boards."
