MOREHOUSE COLLEGE SPONSORS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS WALK
 

ATLANTA, October 2, 2001 - Recognizing October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Morehouse College will conduct a 2nd Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk. The walk is spearheaded by Morehouse employees - Mary Peaks, Chandra Price and Sandra Walker - who are breast cancer survivors.

Last year's walk attracted more than 100 participants who raised $10,000 that was donated to the American Cancer Society on behalf of the College.

All proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society - Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. The College is selling mugs, key chains and beautiful maroon pens, with the words "Morehouse College - Breast Cancer Walk." The commemorative gifts, which range from $15-$20, are available for sale until October 31, from Sandra Walker.

The American Cancer Society estimates that 192,000 women and 1,500 men will be diagnosed with new cases of invasive breast cancer in the United States in 2001.

WHERE: The 2K walk will begin and end at the M. L. King, Jr., International Chapel, 830 Westview Dr. SW, Atlanta, Ga. 30314

REGISTRATION: $20.00 (Includes free T-shirt) - Participants can register the day of the walk.
