MOREHOUSE TO MARCH INTO THE MILLENNIUM WITH HOMECOMING 1999 CELEBRATION

ATLANTA, October 5, 1999 - Morehouse College will close the book on the 1990s in style with "Marching into the Millennium," the final homecoming celebration of the decade, Oct. 10-17. This year's festivities, held in conjunction with Spelman College, feature a gospel and a hip-hop concert, a comedy show, a fashion show and of course a parade and a football game.

Founded in 1867, Morehouse College is the nation's only historically black, private liberal arts college for men. The College enrolls approximately 3,000 students and confers bachelor's degrees on more black men than any other institution in the world.

Prominent alumni include Martin Luther King Jr., Nobel Peace Prize laureate and civil rights leader; Dr. David Satcher, U.S. Surgeon General; Dr. Louis W. Sullivan, president of the Morehouse School of Medicine and former Secretary of Health and Human Services; and Michael L. Lomax, president of Dillard University and former president of The National Faculty.
