Dear Parents and New Students:
The 2007 New Student Orientation (NSO) week of exciting activities is fast approaching, and we look forward to your arrival at Morehouse College on Tuesday, August 14, 2007. Check-in services will begin at 7:45 a.m. (See draft of the schedule of activities.) NSO guides and campus police will direct you to your residence hall when you arrive at the campus.
Parents and guardians should plan to remain through Thursday evening, August 16, in order to attend the unforgettable “Parents Parting Ceremony.”
Dr. Robert Michael Franklin ’75, the tenth president of Morehouse College, assumed office on July 1, 2007. You will get an opportunity to meet him during the week.
A number of changes have been instituted to ensure that the orientation process for new students will run smoothly and efficiently. Please direct all of your concerns now to the Office of Academic Affairs, (404) 653-7805 or to (404) 572–3660.
We have learned that a number of new students are experiencing difficulty with the on-line course registration process. Therefore, we are closing out this process until you arrive. Then faculty advisers will work with you to select the appropriate courses that you need. Please know that we are committed to making sure that all systems are in place to ensure your smooth transition to college life.
Transfer students are required to bring with them a copy of their college transcript and a catalog from their former institution for transfer credit evaluation purposes.
Any student seeking accommodations for academic or physical disabilities must register with Disability Services at the Counseling Center and provide written documentation of the disability. Please call the Counseling Center at (404) 215-2636 if you need additional information.
Please access our TigerNet website using your personal account for other matters pertaining to your stay at our institution. (See instructions.)
Congratulations and best wishes as you begin your journey towards excellence and achievement at Morehouse College.
Sincerely,
Dr. Anne W. Watts
Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs
