Hometown: Port Au Prince, Haiti
Classification: Freshman

Disappointed and disillusioned with a previous collegiate experience at a large public university, Jacques Eric Pape took a relative’s suggestion and visited Morehouse. After that fateful visit, Pape said, “I knew Morehouse was the right place for me.”
Define Yourself.
“I have always been passionate about civil engineering, excelling academically and community service. As a very sociable person, I am always seeking a balance between studying and having fun. From serving as the community service director in my dorm to participating in the Model United Nations, where Morehouse competed against 18 other schools in the South, I have been able to get involved at Morehouse. And not just get involved, but excel. I was fortunate to receive the Most Distinguished Delegate Award on my team.”
Redefine the World.
“Coming to Morehouse, I got another view of the world. There is always a dominant culture trying to stand out. Morehouse has been an institution trying to bridge the gap, particularly by providing students an education with an international focus.
“I am trying to do my part by reaching out to others. I hope to plan a spring break trip to Haiti to do a cultural exchange program. I am taking advantage of the opportunity to be in a small-college environment to do some hands-on learning in and outside the classroom.”
